how can a small typo bring confusion! Indeed it could be an ETA for a release in Pluto!

Hi Sternas,

I am a bit confused WRT your delivery timings for Version 4.0 (good job so far BTW). We have just started on a fairly major development (for us anyway) and would like to start with the latest version of CodeTyphon/Lazarus.

Seeing the date confusion (we are in OZ so use European dd/mm/yyyy format) for our planning purposes: what is the expected date of the 4.0 release noting that 2-3 February 2013 is now well in the past?

Thanks,
Kevin

It seems their plans are already almost complete, and if not for some sudden problem, they'd already release it.

And unforeseen problems had that bad trait to go out of plans, so whatever they told were their release plan, i think they already became moot.

I believe they have now the choice of releasing a crippled version and an update week or month later, or "making it right" from starters. Without knowing anything about the problem itself it is hard to say which would be right thing to do, but in general i'd rather see delayed release, than see formal 4.0 that would be useless until - with the very same delay - update released.

Maybe informing about the problem issue would make more sense than just mere guessing the date.

I'm glad the pilots are committed to quality, and not so much to time schedules.
Good quality saves at the end a lot of time for the users, anyway.

And the pilots do it for the fame and for the reputation, not for the money. It is not so fair to put pressure on them, only due to own (commercial?) projects, which are not blocked at all, because the current CT3.10 does the job very well, and switching the CT-Version during a project's life cycle is no harm or big effort, as long as the quality is stable and good. And this is, what CT stands for, I think. (Just my opinion.)

The work done in codetyphon is immense. It is also offered free of charge to all users, therefore, be able to wait patiently, and compression is always the way to go.

Woah, I think there is something getting lost in translation here. I know CT is an immense task, done for free, and with the good will of all.

I'm not trying to put pressure on the developers, so you don't all need to leap to their defence, and I would always go for bug free before schedule.

I was simply after a delivery update since 2 Feb 2013 is no longer valid. I don't care if the developers say ... Sorry, we have a few unforeseen bugs, we don't know how long the bug fixes will take, we'll let you know when we have something firmer... that's fine, we all have to plan:)

i don't think you was offencing, but i jsut made few points.

1) form the timetable point of few, if CT team really met some unexpected trouble, then any estimates they can do would be vastly inaccurate. Just roll the dice and have your own estimation - it would not be much worse.

2) From technical point of few i believe CT team could make some details about what is hindering them behind. Maybe the community would say "such a problem is not relevant for 90% so let's call it beta and release"
Or at least we'd be able to roll our dices more informed way :-)
