I decided to give CodeTyphon a try because I'm currently locked at Lazarus 1.6.4, or so it seems - the release candidates all show the (apparently well-known) 'duplicated characters' problem, where EVERY keypress in the IDE is duplicated - so type 'begin' and it comes out as 'bbeeggiinn'. This is known to happen with some distros, and it seems mine (the latest Ubuntu Studio, 17.04) is just one of the unlucky ones. I checked for older versions of CodeTyphon, but it just says "None available" (or words to that effect). Is there any way to get an older version which might get me round the problem, or do I just go back to Lazarus 1.6.4?

OK, thank you, because they seemed a little less than hopeful on the Lazarus list. If I can be of any help in providing system logs or trying things on my system, please just let me know, I'm more than willing to do what I can.

Sir
CodeTyphon IS FREE and open source project
and we want your help :(

'duplicated characters' problem is GTK2 API problem
we must focus on this direction.
I will give this task to my LAB team tomorrow
and we hope to solve it...

Just to confirm what you probably expected, I managed to get the Qt4-based version to build on the same system, and it works perfectly, no sign of duplicated characters. At least as far as I'm concerned, that works for me! :)
