What exactly you are refering as Ubuntu phone?

As far as I know there is no phone which natively support Ubuntu yet.

Ubuntu on Android devices can be run with apps like complete Linux installer.

Complete Linux Installer acts like virtual machine that runs on your android device. I tested it only on Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (Quad-core 1.4GHz with 2GB of RAM). Even on this hardware, some lag exists, because there is no native X support, and you need to use VNC to connect to localhost in order to use X apps.

play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co...linuxonandroid&hl=en

List of confirmed working devices can be found here . You can find much more info on this project on linuxonandroid.org/

I am not sure what is architecture of Ubuntu image that this app use, but I am guessing it is ARM Linux, and as far as I know ARM Linux is supported target in CT.

Linux images can be found here .

At this moment, Complete Linux Installer is the most easy way to get Linux on Android device. Other solutions are much more complicated.

I can confirm now that this is ARM version of Ubuntu!

I also have some good news:

Canonical plans to demonstrate Ubuntu on mobile phones at 2013 CES in Las Vegas next week, with delivery on devices expected in late 2013 or early 2014

I expect that ARM version of CT will be ready by then, especially if PI gets 2GB or more RAM by then.

Before you get too existed, please note that you also need ARM versions of all other Linux apps that you want to use and you can not run Windows apps under Wine for example, since you would need Windows ARM apps in that case (someone mentioned Win 8 RT? :)).

Also, some guy posted this yesterday twil.tv/2013/01/ubuntu-phone-os-demonstr...leworth-at-ces-2013/

this was a quick demonstration he gave me of the Ubuntu Phone OS running on top of a GSM Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Mark mentioned that the Galaxy Nexus would be able to run the full desktop version of Ubuntu Phone OS, but it wouldn’t be optimal without at least a dual core, 1.5Ghz processor in your device.

I thing Pi wouldn't get 2Gb, but there are another boards. They cost over $120, though.
Too bad that ubuntu compatible with ARM7 and later only.
