I used to run older versions of CT on older versions of LinuxMint. But CT 5.40 installation fails on LinuxMint 17.2.

Thanks!

Yes, I have installed system libraries and I tried this twice and the installation failed both times:

1. Linux Mint 17.2/Cinnamon desktop on VirtualBox 5.0.
2. On a different machine, Linux Mint 17.2/Cinnamon on VM Player

I can post a screen-shot or send you the log file if that would help. Is there a log file saved during installation? Or should I just save the text from the console?

Edit: I tried all over again and this time I have saved the log file and noticed following errors while updating system libraries.

E: Unable to locate package gcc-c+
E: Couldn't find any package by regex 'gcc-c+'

E: Unable to locate package binutils-devel

I had exactly the same problem with exaclty the same OS using Virtualbox.
I have also tested the versions 17 , 17.1 and 17.2 all of them can install the Small IDE but not the Big IDE.
Error 512
This error did not happened on other versions.
I have used sternas tutorial.

Solution : I installed Linux Mint KDE 17.2 32 and 64 bit both of them work with Codetyphon 5.40
Previous good installation : Linux Mint 17 32 and 64 bit using CodeTyphon 5.20
I always do installations using VirtualBox

Please Sir
use LAB CT 5.5 screens
and MultiArch.

On LinuxMint64 you can use Typhon32 and Typhon64
so, only one VM for LinuxMint or
only one PC for LinuxMint.

PS: please don't forget 17.2 based on Ubuntu 14.04

MultiArch under Linux excellent news !
I would love to test the 5.5 but i am in production time right now .

Important notice : In a native PC using the Linux Mint 17 XFCE natively i have upgraded codetyphon (using the internal tool from CTC) from the version 5.20 to 5.40 with success .
I do not know why in VirtualBox got these errors.
At VirtualBox the combination Linux Mint XFCE 17 + CodeTyphon 5.20 always worked (tested heavily ...)

Another notice :
I have made a partial series of programming tutorials in Pascal
located here : www.trustfm.net/ebooks/ObjectPascal.php
I am using CodeTyphon in my tutorials and i have a reduced "installation guide"

Sir some times the problems on VM are the OpenGL drivers.
-My First suggestion is to use open-vm-tools for VMware:
sudo apt-get install open-vm-tools

Did you build Vmware-Tools on LinuxMint 7.2 ?

-My second suggestion test LAB CT 5.5

I managed to get some time in order to test your solution .
Here is what i did :
VirtualBox v 4.3.30
Linux Mint 17.2 XFCE
vm 2 gb ram
I added
sudo apt-get install open-vm-tools
I have done
sudo nano /etc/sudoers
add at last line
username ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: ALL
Then i installed the add ons (0 dial) "System Libraries" from CT setup script.

I got the error
[ER-INFO] /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgtkglext-x11-1.0.so.0 OR
             /usr/local/lib/libgtkglext-x11-1.0.so.0 NOT Exists ???, can't make symlink for: libgtkglext-x11-1.0.so
   [ER-INFO] /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgdkglext-x11-1.0.so.0 OR
             /usr/local/lib/libgdkglext-x11-1.0.so.0 NOT Exists ???, can't make symlink for: libgdkglext-x11-1.0.so

This error did happened and on Linux Mint 17.2 KDE so it is not that crucial since under KDE everything works

Then i dialed 8 (remove and install)

I got
/usr/lib/codetyphon/typhon/ide/typhon.pp(357,1) Error: (9030) Can't call the resource compiler "/usr/lib/codetyphon/fpc/fpc64/bin/x86_64-linux/fpcres", switching to external mode

Error: (IDE) Build IDE: stopped with exit code 512

Thanks for your time B)
I hope that the 5.5 ver does not have this problem.

Tip : it might be useful to keep the older versions online somehow ...

Sir
we work on LinuxMint every day
a) VM 64bit MUST have 4GB RAM info

b)we have CT old versions here
or from our server
www.pilotlogic.com/codetyphon/CodeTyphonIns_530.zip
www.pilotlogic.com/codetyphon/CodeTyphonIns_520.zip

c)My suggestion go to CTCenter=>Update and download Lab CT 5.5

and a screen of VM with 4GB RAM, 2xCPU, LinuxMint 17.2 XFCE (now)

I had deleted the VM .
So i recreated a new one always 2gb ram
I did the exact same steps using always 17.2 mint xfce and 5.40 codetyphon
I made all the OS updates available as always and this time the Big IDE compiled ! :woohoo:
I have not used sudo apt-get install open-vm-tools (forgot)

At this point i think that the Mint updates were "corrected"? I am pretty sure that the steps were the same as always.
Also notice that i have retried and recreated at least 3/4 times without success with mint 17.2 xfce not just once...

Do you want to test the experimental version ? (5415 says CodeTyphon Update Manager)
