Dear Build Manager,

Post installation, while doing compile / cross build / execution, my Virus Protection Tool "Avast" complain about Virus issues on ppc386.exe and other executable. As developer I can manage the alert and continue the development.

But for end users it might be an annoying issue and bring some credibility issue. Can we get rectified aligning along with Virus Tool providers ?

As a developer, DO check your PC for viruses before installing something.
Otherwise you would continue to plant the "seeds of panic" and imply that it wasn't your unclean OS, but the good and trustworthy software (build from sources) that have brought viruses to your PC.

Yes, PC was checked before installing CT. Avast only captures the CT.

Either your Avast malfunctioning (or infected itself) or it didn't find some malware that other AV scanners can.
I suggest you scan your PC with different software:
Dr. Web Cure It/Live CD/Live USB,
bootable CD with "Nod Smart Security" onboard,
bootable CD with Bitdefender onboard etc.

If you're using legit MS Windows, then have an MSE as the AV scanner. (And if you don't then your OS may be infected from the very beginning).

I've installed CT 4.0 under XP and have no problems with all of those AV scanners. So, triple check if you must.

Also use process explorer and autoruns utilities from the Sysinternals suite (Mark Russinovich's soft) to check for suspicious paths and processes. If you can't fnd one with those, then use procmon utility. Get those only from the MS technet site.

Avast is known to be prone to false positives. However they are also quick in repairing that. Just send them the ppc386.exe file via a support ticket ( support.avast.com/index.php .

Dear Sternas,

I excluded 'codeTyphon' as trusted for scanning purpose, instead of changing antivirus, as Avast seems to be pretty effective. This solves the problem anyway. My believe there were wrong reporting on some executable. Anyway the issue fixed.

Dear RockyLuck,

I already submit the executable, while posting it to forum here. It seems they corrected the definition, as in next full scan there was no issue. Thanks again for pretty effective suggestion.
