Hi,

Can I create my own open source distribution of CodeTyphon Studio (several patches and extensions focused on Windows. My distribution will not work on Linux)? I would like to invest a little in the promotion of "Lazarus / CodeTyphon" and FreePascal :). Can I redistribute your "CodeTyphon Center" which is closed source (for the end user for free of course)?

I would like to do a "rebranding" Typhon IDE (graphics, names), but will be clearly marked that it is based on CodeTyphon.

Regards,
HNB

Sir, I think the CodeTyphon
license.htm
has clear answers to your questions.

Please don't forget CodeTyphon is licensed as Freeware.

It is not clear... Some parts of CodeTyphon can't be Freeware (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freeware). For example Typhon IDE can't be Freeware because it is licensed under GPL, and is based on Lazarus, but "CodeTyphon Center" can be Freeware.

2) you do not bundle or combine the Software
with another offering (e.g., software, hardware, or service).

So I can't create my own distribution if I want provide service or support. The only option for me is make my own "distro" only with GPL parts of CodeTyphon. So I must create my own version "CodeTyphon Center" from scratch. :pinch:

and
"OWNERSHIP RIGHTS

and/or its licensors owns and retains all title and ownership of all

adaptations or copies. You acquire only a license to use the Software."

and
-Installation sub-system
-Crossbuild sub-system
-Crossbuild Engine
etc,

are Freeware...

Freeware license, it's the only way to make and remain CodeTyphon Free and without Cost for pascal programmers.

Thank you for answer :) .

to be clear:
Any installation system, cossbuild systems, crossbuild engine, bat/sh scripts, TyphonCenter created by PilotLogic is released as Freeware, and this can't be part of my own renamed distibution.

But there is one more question. In Typhon IDE I can read:

"The Typhon Component Library is licensed under a modified GNU Lesser General Public License.
The Typhon IDE is licensed under the GNU General Public License."

As I understand, any "component" created by Pilot Logics is under GPL/LGPL?

pl_ORCA, pl_ORCA3D, and others like pl_ExDesign is GPL/LGPL (These components are based on the components which are LGPL)?
So theoretically I can create my own versions of the components and make them available under the GPL / LGPL? (I created a few patches)

I ask these questions because I would like to honor your work, but also accelerate the development of other items/parts of Lazarus/Typhon IDE in my own distribution/way with patches.

Sir
parts of CT without license are free (GPL or LGPL or MPL)
copyleft and NO Cost parts

("This unit is part of CodeTyphon Studio")

All these are for CodeTyphon Studio,
out of CodeTyphon Studio is an other and big Story...

My suggestion:
you can't distribute freeware software, help us to make CT better.

I think now is all clear for me.

you can't distribute freeware software

Yes, but I can distribute (and improve!) parts released as GPL/LGPL/MPL in my distribution. Right? :)

So I will make two things -
  1. I will help (by providing patched versions of CodeTyphon Studio and components).
  2. I will create new distribution without any freeware parts ("Installation sub-system", "Crossbuild sub-system/engine"). Windows only distribution.
