I'm using Lazarus 0.9.26 under Ubuntu 8.10 on i386. Like most users, I've been unable to compile the LCL and the IDE for gtk2 because it needs FPC 2.3.?? which is not available in the Lazarus distribution. So I came here and will soon install CodeTyphon.

But in the long term, what is better about CodeTyphon? What are the benefits?

CodeTyphon has:

1) Freepascal "Building System"
1) Freepascal "Control System"
2) Lazarus "Building System"
2) Lazarus "Control System"
3) More tools
4) More Components/Libraries with open source(wait next release)
5) We always use SVN code for lazarus/Fpc and components

With CodeTyphon we try to make a full Pascal Platform not only a Pascal IDE

I installed it today. setup.sh decided at first that my 32-bit i386 Ubuntu system was 64 bit but then changed its mind so I was able to compile Lazarus and run it and then recompile the LCL. I am very pleased to have the gtk2 interface.

I'm going to install CodeTyphon in Windows (32 bit) and check out the cross-compiling.

Thanks for your efforts. It adds to what the Lazarus and FPC teams are doing and I shall look forward to the next release!
